Our company is certified by ISO 14001. This standard indicates that we are committed to managing our environmental impacts systematically and continuously, through environmental management practices intended at minimizing the environmental impact associated with our operations and products, seeking sustainability and compliance with environmental regulations.

LCA

Believing in a scientific based approach to leathermaking, we are committed to conduce Life Cycle Assessments of our production process, according to the most recent Product Environmental Footprint Category Rules (PEFCRs) for leather. This provides a comprehensive view of our supply chain, which allows proper analyses and actions to minimize environmental impacts and achieve greener solutions.

TRACEABILITY

We work with full traceability in 100% of our products, from farms and slaughterhouses to finished leather, through the tracking of our hides with the most modern traceability technologies (e.g. georeferencing, ear tags, etc). This helps us to focus in the social and environmental compliance and efficiency of our internal processes, assuring we are not inserting in our supply chain any hides linked with illegal deforestation damage to local communities.

SAC MEMBERSHIP

The Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) is an international organization that aims to guarantee in a collaborative way the sustainability of the apparel and fashion industry. As a member, we are committed to leading our industry towards a more responsible future. In this regard, our sustainability department submitted the Kind Leather Life Cycle Assessment results to the Higg Co suite of tools (e.g. Higg Material Sustainability Index), providing a transparent view of our supply chain and its verified environmental benefits.

Illegal Deforestation and Conversion Free

Another crucial factor is the guarantee of the animal's origin. JBS Leather has a zero illegal deforestation policy in its production chain, so that in the areas of greatest risk it has established a satellite mapping approach for animal breeders, identifying any signs of illegal deforestation in each of them. Those with any evidence of this practice are immediately excluded from the supply base:

The farmer registers the limits of his property.

We cross the databases and block any supplier that does not adhere to our criteria.

Through a database generated by INPE (National Institute for Space Research) it is possible to identify deforested areas, even in the initial stage of illegal deforestation.
